HarbourVest Partners Grows EMEA Operations with Dublin Expansion

HarbourVest Partners Grows EMEA Operations with Dublin Expansion

HarbourVest Partners, a global private markets asset manager with over $147 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2025, has reinforced its commitment to Ireland with the opening of its new office at One Haddington Buildings, Dublin 4.

HarbourVest has operated in Dublin since 2019, initially with a team of six. Today, the firm’s Irish presence has grown to more than 40 employees. The Dublin office has played a key role in supporting institutional and private wealth clients throughout the EMEA region by providing tailored access to private equity, credit, real assets, infrastructure, and customised solutions such as separately managed accounts.

HarbourVest’s multi-manager platform builds diversified portfolios by leveraging its extensive GP network and deep expertise. This wide-ranging access to deal flow, combined with the firms’ broad data set, enables scalable, cross-strategy exposure that performs across investment cycles and styles.

Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke said: “Congratulations to HarbourVest on the opening of their new office in Dublin. This expansion highlights Ireland’s reputation as a hub for global financial services and reflects the strength of our skilled workforce. I thank HarbourVest’s for their continued investment in Ireland and wish them the very best for the future.”

“Our expansion in Ireland marks a significant milestone in HarbourVest’s European growth journey,” said John Toomey, CEO, HarbourVest. “The coming implementation of auto-enrolment is an enormous opportunity for retirement savers throughout Ireland, and we believe that diversified private equity exposure is critical to supporting national retirement goals. Public markets continue to shrink and become more concentrated and investing in diversified private equity can help balance risk and drive long-term value for Irish savers.”

“The new office space fosters collaboration and innovation, while reinforcing our commitment to investing in local talent and infrastructure to better serve our clients,” said Craig MacDonald, Head of Ireland, HarbourVest. “Our Dublin team has played a pivotal role in HarbourVest’s European operations, and with further growth and strategic hires underway, we’re excited to deepen our presence and impact across the region.”

Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, said: ‘’HarbourVest’s announcement further underscores Ireland’s position as a leading location for global firms in the financial services sector. The combination of a talented workforce and a stable pro-business environment continues to attract companies looking to access wider global markets. I want to wish HarbourVest every success in their new office for the coming years.’’

The office serves as the headquarters for HarbourVest Partners (Ireland) Limited, the firm’s EU alternative investment fund manager authorised and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland together with HarbourVest Global Operations (EMEA) Limited which provides inter-group operational support services.
